ECSA Conference 2026 in Oulu: OeAD Center for Citizen Science actively involved on site

The European citizen science community is currently meeting in Oulu for the 6th conference of the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA). Under the theme “Citizen Science – Bridging Center and Periphery,” researchers, practitioners, and political actors are discussing current developments, challenges, and perspectives in participatory research.

The OeAD Center for Citizen Science is represented in the program with several contributions. Two workshops have already been held: one focused on strengthening citizen science in teacher training, and another—as part of the European infrastructure project RIECS—on helping to shape a future pan-European research infrastructure for citizen science. The team also moderated a roundtable discussion on how centers and peripheral regions can be better connected in the spirit of inclusive science.

Further program items involving the OeAD Center for Citizen Science, including a contribution on continuing education opportunities for teachers in the European context, will follow in the course of the conference.
