The focus is on how citizens can be actively involved in research processes and thereby help shape scientific findings. The article illustrates that citizen science goes far beyond mere data collection. Among other things, it explores how diverse societal perspectives are incorporated into research, thereby helping to shape research questions, methods, and results.

Participants contribute their experiences, perspectives, and knowledge to various phases of research. In this way, citizen science not only enhances the quality and societal relevance of research but also fosters dialogue between the scientific community and the public.
