The survey is part of the “Trust in Citizen Science” research project and examines how participation in citizen science projects affects trust in scientific processes and research findings. The survey is open to individuals aged 18 and older who are currently active or have previously been active in citizen science projects. The anonymous survey is available in German and English and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Ten Amazon gift cards, each worth 50 euros, will be raffled off among all participants. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to receive information about the study results, which are expected in the fall of 2026.
The project is being conducted by researchers from LMU Munich, the Leibniz Institute for Psychology, TU Braunschweig, and the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space. In addition to the perspective of citizen scientists, the project also analyzes the perception of citizen science in academia, society, and the media.
