How can public spaces in cities be designed to be generation-friendly? What social and spatial opportunities and obstacles are there for young people and older people in terms of participation in public spaces? How are these perceived by young people and older people? The Sparkling-Science-project “The generation-friendly city” aims to get to the bottom of these questions. The aim is to gain a transdisciplinary and in-depth understanding of how young people and older people perceive the opportunities for participation in public spaces in the city. On the one hand, this is about intergenerational relationships and relations and, on the other, about researching the concrete interaction possibilities of young people and older people with their social and spatial environment.
An action-oriented, participatory citizen science approach is used here: The project is currently looking for young people and older adults who would like to explore their city. Anyone interested can contact project manager Verena Tatzer-Hanten at verena.tatzer-hanten@fhwn.ac.at
