2 min read · 14. May 2025

Armenian and Austrian universities share a history of collaboration, resulting in impactful academic, research and capacity-building initiatives. Programmes such as APPEAR support joint research, scholarships, and knowledge exchange aimed at addressing both local and global challenges. By strengthening institutional ties and supporting scholars, this cooperation enhances the quality of higher education while promoting sustainable development and innovation in both countries. These ongoing partnerships reflect a shared commitment to advancing education and research, fostering growth, and generating meaningful societal impact.

Since the start of the second phase of the APPEAR programme in 2015, when Armenia became an eligible partner country alongside Moldova and Georgia, Armenian institutions have demonstrated remarkable commitment and growth in project participation.
A total of 5 Preparatory Fundings and 7 Academic Partnerships were funded, of which 6 are ongoing partnerships with institutions such as the Armenian National Agrarian University, Yerevan State University, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, and the National Academy of Sciences.

The one-day programme will open with welcoming remarks by official representatives of the Austrian Embassy for Development Cooperation in Armenia, Yerevan State University, the Armenian National Agrarian University, and the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation. This will be followed by a presentation on the various ongoing APPEAR partnerships between Armenian and Austrian institutions, highlighting the objectives, outcomes, and impacts of these collaborative projects. The panel discussion in the afternoon with APPEAR project partners from different institutions will discuss key issues such as applied research, institutional partnerships and project-related challenges. This session will offer valuable insights and serve as a platform for experience-sharing and networking.

Please see the detailed programme and register until 27 June 2025.
