The prize supports research on gender and diversity topics in relation to natural resource management. Lemlem has researched on 'Resilience of communal grasslands in the Ethiopian highlands: Integrating gender and social learning'.
Lemlem Aregu Behailu was a gender specialist in the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) for Improving Productivity and Market Success for Ethiopian farmers project (IPMS). She completed her PhD at the BOKU. She holds a BSc and MSc in plant science from Alemaya university, Ethiopia and Rural Sociology from Wagenigen University, the Netherlands respectively. She has over 15 years experience in agricultural research and development including gender.
