APPEAR III - new programme phase starts in December 2020

OeAD is pleased to announce that the successful APPEAR programme will continue. The Austrian Development Agency has commissioned the OeAD to implement the third phase, starting on the 1st of December 2020. The programme will run for another 7 years, until November 2027. The revision of the programme design and preparations for the next call have already started.

Hafte Mebrahten Tesfay finishes PhD study on agroforestry in Ethiopia

The research of our APPEAR scholar focused on ecosystem services of indigenous agroforestry systems in the southeastern Rift Valley, Ethiopia. He successfully defended his PhD at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna in early December 2020.

Summary at the end of the programme phase: More than 24,000 euros spent on climate protection

For more than five years APPEAR has been actively engaged in fighting climate change by supporting climate protection projects of the BOKU Competence Center for Climate Neutrality. During this period more than 24,000 euros have been spent on different initiatives in Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal and Costa Rica.
