first-hand information and perspectives of Alumni on “How does the corona crisis affect international academic cooperation in the future?” is therefore highly relevant to the OeAD. In the field of scientific cooperation global mobility was critical until the pandemic started. Studying abroad, exchange programmes, international project meetings, attending conferences and conducting field research were [...] presented by Alumni universities quickly had to adapt to the new situation and new ways of interaction had to be found. We concluded that some activities can still be carried out online, international scientific cooperation will continue and is especially crucial for fighting a global pandemic. However, the social aspects of face-to-face-encounters, informal discussions, where new project ideas are developed [...] institutions in countries of the global South. Projects must contribute to analysing and solving local challenges and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme is open to all scientific disciplines. One- to three-year research projects mobility and material expenses for Austrian project partners and project partners from the South are funded. Another call is expected in 2020. The
further 12 projects are in the preparatory phase and will be launched in the upcoming weeks. Eligible costs are mobility and material expenses in the context of 1-3year research projects covering all scientific disciplines. The Susfish project contributed to the career of its main researchers. From my side, in July 2017, my work was somehow recognised by the CAMES,
entitled Local cattle breeds of Burkina Faso Characterization and sustainable utilization (LoCabreed) ran from 2016 to 2021 and was a resounding success in terms of capacity building, results and scientific publications. The positive outcome has led to funding for a second phase, this time on Advancing local capacities for livestock breeding practice and research in Burkina Faso ( LoCaBreed2.0 ). Albert [...] the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) and did his laboratory work at the Veterinary Medicine University of Vienna (Vetmeduni). This training was very rewarding from both a scientific and human point of view. Also, his study in Austria improved his approach to teaching, his relationship with students, trainees and collaborators. The collaboration established in 2014 as part of
study itself changed my horizon and widened my vision towards scientific research. After the PhD, I got promoted to a senior post and got new responsibilities. My PhD degree also led me to a university assistant position which was a most important milestone in my career. My future plan is to enhance further the existing academic and scientific network between Austria and Nepal through more research cooperation
