The everyday lives of women in informal settlements in Ethiopia and Mozambique are the focus of the research project "Strengthening Research and Educational Competences of HEIs for Gender sensitive Urban (InfoRmal Settlement) Transformation" (GIRT). The APPEAR project GIRT specifically looks at women’s daily lived experiences in informal settlements in Ethiopia and Mozambique. The project will build capacity in essential transdisciplinary methodologies in the partner universities, which will empower them to function as catalysts of change. In close partnership with local stakeholders, GIRT project partners will co-produce and share new, locally specific knowledge on real world problems and learn how to apply it to improve female informal residents’ living conditions on the ground.3 min lesen · 31. CPUg team members have been hard at work trying to make Uganda “cleaner and more prosperous”, as its project title explicitly states. The project is aimed at improving fecal sludge and solid waste management capabilities across the country, with a particular focus on the Imvepi refugee settlement in the northwest part of the country; urban and suburban settings within Wakiso District; and 2-3 selected CDM composting plants throughout the country.
