  Exchange visit to the Center for Students with Disability at Addis Ababa University

  In the framework of the second annual meeting of the INEDIS project, Lukas Ertl from Barrierefrei Studieren at the University of Vienna visited Addis Ababa University. Besides participating at the annual meeting and getting to discuss with the project partners from three Ethiopian universities, he also spent some days at the Center for Students with Disabilities at Addis Ababa University. He was shown the equipment and provisions for Students with Disabilities and had the opportunity to exchange with representatives from the Center on the situation of Students.

  ...successfully gathered participants from three countries on discussing the local dimension in energy governance. The webinar started with an overview of SEA4cities facts followed by a Wiki Energy presented by the project coordinator, as a contribution to understanding of some energy related concepts that would appear later in the presentation.

  Charles Rutikanga, current APPEAR scholar and PhD candidate at the University of Vienna, participated at the International Conference on Child Protection in Africa. He presented his PhD research topic on “Lives in Adversity: Life Experience of Street Children in the City of Kigali”.

  Film Days 2018 - Cooperation with this human world film festival

  On the 7th of December the movie The Judge will be screened at the Top Kino in Vienna. The movie explores the story of Judge Kohloud is the first female judge to be appointed to a sharia court in the Middle East. The film shows the challenges she faces in a deeply patriarchal society.

  APPEAR in practice_10 recap

  It was no lecture that was given during APPEAR in practice_10, which took place on 23rd of October at OeAD. Rather, the floor was opened after short introductory statements and the majority of the time was allotted to a discussion with the audience of about 60. The format of the event did justice to its title “The art of achieving inclusive education”, and it reflected the considerate and transdisciplinary mode of collaboration of the INEDIS project partners featured that evening.

  Workshop recap: How to maintain your wellbeing to be productive and to achieve your goals

  When the semester starts students feel excited and have a lot of expectations. But they also have a huge workload and feel the time pressure. Pursuing academic work while also enjoying social life and looking after health and wellbeing is the key to achieving goals. This is why on the 5th of October we organised a workshop on how to find a good work-study-life balance. OeAD scholars learned coping mechanisms to deal with stress, time pressure and health issues. They tried out practical exercises for relaxation and strength. Moreover scholars had the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with fellow colleagues.
