Around 1,800 people attended the event and took the opportunity to learn more about native butterflies and their habitats. The aim of the Citizen Science Award project is to work with citizen scientists to collect data on the distribution of butterflies in Austria, thereby strengthening the scientific basis for biodiversity research and nature conservation.
At the information stand, visitors were able to learn about butterflies, try out observation methods and find out about opportunities to take part in the research competition. Families and young participants in particular showed great interest in the link between nature observation and scientific data collection.
