ECSA 2026 will be held at the University of Oulu from 3 to 6 March. The conference programme will be drawn up in a two-stage process, with topics for panels, round tables and workshops being submitted in the first stage. The selected topics and formats have now been published on the conference website.
In the second submission phase, contributions to existing panels, workshops or roundtables can now be submitted. Possible formats are classic papers, workshop contributions or so-called showcase pitches. The latter allow for a short, creative project presentation on stage. Posters are also welcome and will be exhibited throughout the conference. Paper and poster contributions require a title, a short and long version of the abstract and details of the authors.
Submissions are made exclusively via an online form on the conference website. Each role (e.g. presenter or moderator) can be taken on a maximum of two times per person. Contributions can be submitted until 7 October; feedback will be given by 22 October.
The OeAD Centre for Citizen Science will be represented at several programme items at the conference, to which contributions can also be submitted:
- Round table on the topic of supporting peripheral educational institutions: 'Bridging centre and periphery: insights from citizen science initiatives such as ‘Sparkling Science’ on engaging schools in remote and peripheral regions'
- Workshop on the topic of teacher education and training in the field of citizen science: ‘Teaching citizen science: Building capacity through teacher education and training’
- Workshop on the topic of European research infrastructures: ‘Co-designing the Future pan-European Citizen Science Research Infrastructure’
