Ugandan and Austrian universities share a longstanding history of collaboration, resulting in impactful academic and research initiatives, as well as essential capacity-building programmes. A number of Ugandans have completed their studies in Austria, returning as influential multipliers encouraging further cooperation between institutions.
Austrian funded programmes like APPEAR and Africa-UniNet support joint research, scholarships, and knowledge exchange that address both local and global challenges. By reinforcing institutional ties and supporting scholars and alumni, the collaboration not only elevates higher education but also drives sustainable development and innovation in both countries. These ongoing partnerships reflect a mutual commitment to advancing education and research, creating opportunities for growth and meaningful societal impact.
The one-day programme begins with a morning session open to all, focusing on sustaining and growing partnerships, fostering new initiatives, and expanding collaborative projects.
The afternoon session, exclusive to APPEAR and Africa-UniNet partners as well as IPGL scholars and alumni, will feature interactive working groups. Attendees will discuss key topics, including applied research, institutional partnerships, and project-related challenges, providing a valuable space for experience-sharing and networking.
To conclude the afternoon programme, participants are invited to a networking dinner at 6:00 p.m.
