Around 50 participants joined the OeAD’s US-Austrian Erasmus+ Higher Education Cooperation Seminar in Washington DC on May 30, 2023. The event aimed at networking and enhancing cross-Atlantic collaboration, convening 11 US universities and colleges with 18 Austrian higher education institutions. Thank you to our hosts at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC for making our seminar a memorable experience.
Referring to the global opportunities of Erasmus+ within its mobility key action (International Credit Mobility [KA171] and the international dimension of KA131), the seminar provided an opportunity to showcase and strengthen the strategic use of Erasmus+ in collaborating between Austria and the United States. It included discussions of both the American and Austrian university systems as well as presentations of the funding framework of the program. IMC Krems and the University of Northern Iowa provided insights into their already successful cooperation project, and an interview with Gordana Mirchikj from Education USA highlighted additional ways of support in finding new partners in Austria and the USA. All participants introduced their institutions before two matchmaking sessions gave room for participants to directly discuss innovation methods and best practice examples and laying the foundational blocks for new partnerships.
