The Foundation for Innovation in Education – FIE for short – is associated with the OeAD by law. It is a separate legal entity.

100% subsidiary OeAD student housing:

On 1 October 1998 the OeAD-WohnraumverwaltungsGmbH – OeAD student housing for short – was founded as an independent 100% subsidiary of the OeAD. The non-profit student residence provider is a point of contact for universities, universities of applied sciences, university colleges of teacher education, private universities and other organisations. The OeAD subsidiary accommodates international and national students at seven locations in Austria. It is considered a pioneer worldwide in the construction of student halls of residence in passive house design. By accommodating students in passive houses it contributes to raising awareness of sustainability issues. In 2023 the subsidiary had around 67 employees all over Austria and provided accommodation in Vienna, Linz, Graz, Leoben, Klagenfurt and Salzburg.
