At regular intervals, the working group for citizen science trainers meets to exchange information about their initiatives and explore potential collaborations. At the meeting on 8 September 2025, the OeAD Center for Citizen Science presented its activities in the school sector.
Building on the long-standing success stories of Sparkling Science 2.0 and the Citizen Science Award, the presentation also highlighted teacher training courses organized by OeAD and the Citizen Science Working Group in and with schools. These online training opportunities are open to all teachers in Austria who are either interested in participating in the Citizen Science Award or would like to gain a general introduction to citizen science.
Using concrete project examples from Austria, the discussion also explored how children and young people can make genuine research contributions within a school context.
