How citizen science networks can be designed to be sustainable

National citizen science networks play a key role in raising the profile of projects, connecting stakeholders and strengthening participatory research. A new report by the ECSA Citizen Science Networks Working Group highlights the experiences of established and emerging networks from various countries.

A series of workshops addressed challenges such as sustainable funding, organisational structures, intellectual property rights and criteria for the inclusion of projects. The report, to which the OeAD Centre for Citizen Science also contributed, offers valuable insights into the objectives, activities, communication strategies and data management of citizen science platforms, and provides suggestions for the establishment and further development of national networks.
