1 min read · 17. March 2026

This professional development workshop for librarians offers a practical introduction to citizen science and demonstrates how libraries can serve as accessible venues for science outreach and citizen science. The workshop will present the current citizen science projects of the Citizen Science Award, as well as concrete ways in which libraries can encourage citizens to participate and organize related activities locally.

The Citizen Science Award is a research competition that calls on participants each year to collaborate with researchers on scientific projects. From April 1 to July 31, school classes, youth groups, families, and individuals across Austria can participate in selected projects and actively contribute to research. The most dedicated participants will then be honored at the Young Science Congress in the fall.

Thursday, April 9, 2026, 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Robert Musil Institute for Literary Research, Bahnhofstraße 50, 9020 Klagenfurt
