The RIECS consortium will meet on September 24 and 25 at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca in Milan to kick off the next project phase. This phase will be characterized by close exchange with different target groups. The OeAD Center for Citizen Science will coordinate the collaboration with co-researchers in Austria as well as activities in the education sector at the European level.

The first citizen scientist workshop will already take place in Vienna at the beginning of October. People with prior experience in citizen science are invited to share their opinions and jointly develop ideas on how participation in citizen science initiatives could be shaped technically in the future to make it even more accessible.

At the OIS zam: Forum of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society, which will be held on November 9–10, 2025, at the ÖBB Open Innovation Factory, we will host an open workshop on RIECS-Concept together with the ZSI – Center for Social Innovation. Participation in the conference is free of charge.

As part of the Young Science Congress, which will take place on October 23 in Linz, students who successfully took part in the Citizen Science Award will share their perspectives on what the citizen science platform of the future should look like.

In November, education experts from across Europe will come together virtually to discuss infrastructure needs in schools, universities, non-formal education, and education policy.

Further online and on-site formats will continue the exchange in 2026. If you are interested in the project or in taking part in the workshops, you can reach out to Elisabeth Schauermann (elisabeth.schauermann[at]oead.at).
