(Generative) AI Meets Science Education: New Ways to Integrate
Content
Generative AI tools have long been an integral part of many professional and personal spheres. In science education, AI is an engaging field of study that sparks curiosity among people of all ages and encourages them to explore it more deeply. At the same time, AI itself can be used as a teaching and design tool: large language models, image-generation tools, or other applications can be specifically employed to experiment with scientific content, open up new perspectives, and create creative approaches. AI demonstrates its potential where it supports processes, broadens perspectives, and itself becomes the subject of reflective, critical examination.
At the same time, important questions take center stage: How can digital security, data protection, copyright, and ethical aspects be considered thoughtfully and responsibly? In this professional development module, practical examples and approaches to reflection will be presented that demonstrate how generative AI can be meaningfully and responsibly integrated as both a topic and a tool in science communication in accordance with current standards.
