As part of the APPEAR project on Education and Vocation Counselling Training in Ethiopia, the MCI welcomed project partners from 2 to 6 February 2026 in Innsbruck. Ephrem Tekle Yacob from the Kotebe University of Education (KUE) and Genene Abebe from the Technical and Vocational Training Institute (TVET).
The project aims to sustainably expand career and educational counseling services at 15 Ethiopian universities. To achieve this, career counselors will be trained and provided with the necessary resources.
To advance this goal, they visited several relevant career and educational counseling institutions in Innsbruck, including the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol, the Chamber of Labour, the Chamber of Commerce, Bildungsinfo Tirol, BerufsInfoZentrum (BIZ) of the labour market service and the Central Student Advisory Service. The insights gained into Tyrol’s counseling landscape provide valuable input for further developing the curriculum and counseling services in Ethiopia within the APPEAR project.
Cooperation with the project partners will continue throughout the course of the project. In this context, a return visit by representatives of the department of Social Work to the partner institutions in Ethiopia is took place from 16 to 20 February 2026 in order to deepen the professional exchange and jointly develop the next steps of the project.
The key activities centered on in-depth discussions and close coordination with the ministry, the participating universities, and their respective career centers, with a strong focus on fostering collaboration, strategic planning, and aligning shared objectives.
