University Preparation Programme Leoben

The University Preparation Programme Leoben offers intensive courses for foreign students to prepare them for supplementary examinations prescribed by the Montanuniversitaet.
It is provided by the OeAD together with the Montanuniversitaet Leoben.

Courses and Instruction

We offer courses in

    • German as foreign language
  • Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Descriptive Geometry (language of instruction is German).

Course scheme

German language courses: There are three course levels of the German language course. After testing the German knowledge with a placement test the students will be placed to their suitable course level. Other subjects: The course takes two semesters.

Lecturers

Academically qualified lecturers teach in the German language courses (with additional skills in German as foreign language) and supplementary courses.

Overview of the semester

  • Winter semester: Beginning of October to the middle of February
  • Summer semester: Beginning of March to Beginning of July

Status

All students are enrolled as non degree-programme students (außerordentliche Studierende). They have the status of university students and have a student identity card.

Course registration

Registration for the winter semester starts in the first week of September and for the summer semester in the second week of January.

Registration deadline: Friday before the course starts

Please organise your arrival in Austria on time. If you arrive after the registration deadline please get in contact with the office of the University Preparation Programme.

An admission letter of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben is needed to join the Preparation Programme - without an admission letter enrolment it not possible.
Students need to enrol in person.

Students have to pass the supplementary examinations in German and other subjects at the University Preparation Programme of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben before they can be enrolled in a degree programme of the university. While attending the courses students are enrolled as non-degree programme students ("außerordentliche Studierende") at the university.

The course fee
for beginners of German language is 300 Euro
for advanced learners is 200 Euro
for participants of the German and other subjects 400 Euro.
An additional amount for material costs (photocopies) may be charged.

Continuers

Students who have already taken part in the University preparation programme follow up the courses to the same terms and conditions.
The registration has to be done in the office of the University Preparation Programme.

After the registration deadline you cannot register for courses anymore (this also applies for students in the first semester!).

Supplementary examinations

There are two dates for supplementary examinations per semester - please mind the application deadline! You can get information about the requirements for the examinations from the office of the University Preparation Programme.

Prüfungsanmeldung

Melden Sie sich bitte im Lehrgangsbüro an. Wichtig: Sie brauchen dafür einen gültigen Zulassungsbescheid der Montanuniversität Leoben.
Eine Abmeldung von der Prüfung ist nur bis eine Woche vor Prüfungstermin im Lehrgangsbüro möglich.

Prüfungsort

Die schriftlichen und mündlichen Prüfungen finden an der Montanuniversität Leoben statt.

Bringen Sie bitte zu allen Prüfungen Ihren Studierendenausweis und Reisepass mit!
