The EU project "COESO" (Collaborative Engagement on Societal Issues) aims, e.g. to improve the needs and challenges of researchers in regard to citizen science projects in the social sciences and humanities as well as the financial support.

During the course of the project, a total of ten case studies will be conducted: Five of them started at the beginning of the project in January 2021, while another five were selected through an open call in May 2022. The new projects address "nutritional quality," "climate change," "water quality," "societal value of older people," and "people with disabilities," and will be carried out in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Croatia, and Tanzania. Each pilot project represents a particular type and model of interaction between different stakeholders and addresses specific societal issues. This diversity will generate new knowledge about different challenges encountered in Citizen Science in the social sciences and humanities.

An overview of the ten case studies can be found on the COESO website.
