Join the roundtable discussion on the 13th of November 2018, 6 pm at the Institute of African Studies, University of Vienna.

For over six decades, Africans have been coming to study in Austria – and other countries all over the world, including the capitalist West, the former socialist Bloc and the global South. We will discuss experiences and motives of studying overseas past and present and look at recent educational developments and scholarship opportunities in Austria and beyond.

The event will also launch the recent issue of Stichproben - Vienna Journal of African Studies on Journeys of Education and Struggle: African mobility in times of decolonization and the Cold War (No. 34/2018, edited by Eric Burton).
