Kevin Nyongesa completed the Master Programme "Mountain Forestry" at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in 2014. Since then he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Natural Resources at Egerton University. Besides Kevin is involved in the research project "Developing fire danger maps for identifying fire hot spots and improving fire management in Mt. Kenya forest", that is jointly implemented by the BOKU, Egerton University and the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and financed by the Commission for Development Research. Climate change and the increasing human activities in forests and national parks are causing an increase in the number of fire incidences and the reduction of forest cover in Kenya. Kevin contributes to find solutions by doing his PhD on "Fire management in Mt. Kenya Forest", started in March 2015 at the BOKU. His studies are financed by APPEAR. He is also a Member of two NGOs: Kakamega Environmental Education Programme (KEEP) and Ecosystem Volunteers Organization (EVO).Kevin Nyongesa
